Dear Friends of LAUMC,
Engage 2024 was our just-completed three-month-long process of surveying the entire LAUMC congregation to better understand the hopes and dreams of our church. The survey revealed that as a church, our highest priorities are:
- Worship & Music
- Children & Youth
- Service
- Inclusivity
This year’s Commitment Campaign will seek to engage with each of these four priorities. On each of the four Sundays of May, one of these four priorities will be lifted up, affirmed, and celebrated as we seek to grow in each of them further.
Last year, we witnessed significant fruit in each of these four areas. Our overall weekly worship attendance grew from 593 to 684, an increase of 15%. We experienced notable growth in our Children’s Ministry and welcomed Timothy Loewen-Elofson as our new Director of Youth Ministries. Additionally, we successfully organized another thriving Compassion Week and embarked on our first post-COVID House-Building Mission trip to Mexico. Furthermore, we fostered deeper, more inclusive interfaith connections within our community.
Our annual commitment campaign is an opportunity for every member of the congregation to carefully consider what we seek to do and be as a faith community and consider making a financial commitment in support of this effort. Financial commitments can be made on the enclosed Commitment Card or using the online form links at the top and bottom of this webpage. On Sunday, May 19th, we will celebrate all the commitments made through this year’s campaign.
It is no secret that the church, like most institutions, is struggling to adjust and hopefully thrive through the many changes and challenges of this time. LAUMC has certainly been blessed this last year, but we are not immune to these changes and challenges. With your prayers, your presence, your service and witness, and your financial gifts, we believe that we will be able to live out the calling that God has given to our church.
Our Extravagant Generosity Committee hopes that this month-long Commitment Campaign season will allow each of us to take inventory of our personal commitment to living out our faith and to take intentional steps toward re-committing ourselves to being the persons that God has called us to be as followers of Jesus.
Thank you for taking this journey with us and for your continued support of God’s work through this church home we call LAUMC.
Easter Blessings,
Ashish Farmer
