New Here?
LAUMC is an active faith community that welcomes spiritual seekers from all kinds of backgrounds. We know that it can sometimes be a little overwhelming to find information. Or you may have questions. On this page, we’ve gathered information to help you get oriented and answer some of the questions people frequently have about our community.
Most of all, we want you to feel welcome and know that we are eager to hear your questions – whether that’s where to find the restrooms or bigger “meaning of life” sorts of things.
About the Congregation
Los Altos United Methodist Church is a progressive and engaged congregation with 2,100 members in the heart of Silicon Valley. As a congregation, we reach out locally and globally to partner with and serve vulnerable populations. We are a Changemaker church, committed to following Jesus’ example of having compassion for all people, and celebrating God’s gift of diversity. We strive to create a church home where people of every gender identity, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, physical and mental ability, immigration and socioeconomic status can unite in the mission of God’s love. All are welcome here!
“Connection. Compassion. Courage. That all may flourish.”

Serve
The way we share God’s love for us is to serve others. We can serve by helping to meet the immediate needs of our brothers and sisters and also by advocating for changes that will bring about long-term solutions to address the root causes of human suffering.
Community
Those who make a commitment to the following expectations of church community get the most out of their experience, as they grow closer to God and to those who share the journey.
