OpenCircle — Young Adult Group
Monday nights at 7:00pm New and Now. Emergent and Energetic. This is the true description of the generation that is often labeled as young adults. Clearly, we are more than an age bracket. We are a generation that is on the rise and ready to change the world. And we have been eagerly welcomed to Los Altos United Methodist Church to be stirred and challenged, equipped and empowered for God’s purposes in this world. If you are ready to make a difference and build relationships with like-minded individuals, come join us. Our vision for OpenCircle is to provide a relevant, life empowering, spirit-filled place and ministry for young adults ages 18 through 35. We meet every Monday night for “Mind Over Mondays” at 7:00pm at LAUMC in the Live Oak Room. In addition to our weekly meetings, OpenCircle is involved in many different outreach events and projects each month as we live out one of our core values of making a difference in our world and our community.
OpenCircle small groups — called Oikos groups or O-groups (“oikos” means family or household in Greek) — are aimed at fostering accountability, deeper and more intimate relationships, spiritual growth and prayer. There are a few different options for these Oikos groups, meeting on different nights and led by different leaders. Our hope is that these groups will be made up of 6 to 12 individuals and meet on a bi-weekly basis. Current Oikos groups are:
- Oikos Central at LAUMC (Tuesdays at 7:00pm)
- Oikos East in Sunnyvale (Thursdays at 7:30pm)
If you are interested in joining one of these Oikos groups or would like to find out more about OpenCircle and the many ways that we are creating a ministry where “there is always room,” please contact Pastor Sam Lewis.
Selected Saturdays OpenCircle holds a periodic Saturday evening worship service. At 5:00pm, we gather in Creekside to worship in ways that will feel relevant to those that are 18 to 35 (or somewhere in that age vicinity) and hopefully bring young hearts closer to Jesus. Contact the church office for the next scheduled service.
The community of the Los Altos United Methodist Church is Touching heaven, changing earth with head, heart, and hands.
We do this by faithfully committing to and intentionally growing in our five congregational and personal practices.
