New Speaker Series Starting: A Bigger Table

LAUMC is restarting its monthly Sunday dinners with a new speaker series, called A Bigger Table. The dinners/speakers will be scheduled on the third Sunday of each month following the Creekside Crossings worship service.

On Sunday, January 21, 6:00–7:30pm, join us in Creekside to hear the Rev. Deborah Lee, executive director of the Interfaith Movement for Human Integrity. She has worked at the intersection of faith and social justice for more than 25 years as an educator and organizer on issues of race, gender, a just economy, anti-militarism, LGBTQ inclusion, and immigration. Deborah is a second generation Chinese-American, a mother, and a tai chi practitioner. She works with faith communities engaged in the work of accompanying and advocating for the fair treatment and dignity of immigrants. Please register for the dinner by January 16 so that food quantities can be prepared. Suggested pricing is $12 for adults, $8 for youth and children 10 and over, and free for children under 10.

Looking ahead, mark your calendars on February 18 to hear the Rev. Dr. Jay Emerson Johnson, assistant professor of theology and culture at Pacific School of Religion, and on March 18 to hear the Rev. Dr. David Vasquez-Levy, president of Pacific School of Religion.
