Registration has opened for the fall Men’s Retreat, November 11–13, which will be led this year by LAUMC’s former senior pastor, the Rev. Dr. Mark Bollwinkel. Men of all ages are invited to participate. The theme will be “Men Finding Our Way,” celebrating our uniqueness, finding new ways to trust, accepting who we are, and acknowledging 21st-century roles.
“Every time God forgives us, God is saying that God’s own rules do not matter as much as the relationship that God wants to create with us.”
― Richard Rohr, “Falling Upward: A Spirituality for the Two Halves of Life”
The retreat weekend will include presentations, discussion, music, time for reflection, a hike to the Cross at Mount Hermon (optional), a project with clay led by Pastor Mark, a Saturday evening movie and discussion, and Sunday worship and communion. There will also be time for play, singing, walking, napping, and eating. Men are encouraged to invite a friend!
The retreat will be held at Mount Hermon Christian Retreat Center near Felton, about 45 minutes from LAUMC, amidst a beautiful redwood forest. The registration fee of $250 includes all retreat materials, two nights’ lodging in either a cabin or a deluxe room with a roommate and bathroom (no dorm rooms), and six buffet-style meals from Friday dinner through lunch Sunday.
Register online here, or drop off a registration form and a check payable to LAUMC, with “2016 Men’s Retreat” on the memo line, at the church office. Scholarships are available. Registration closes October 25.
