Movie – The Great Escape (2023)
The Great Escaper tells the true story of Bernard Jordan (Michael Caine) who staged a ‘great escape’ from his care home to join fellow war veterans on a beach in Normandy in June of 2014, commemorating their fallen comrades at the D-Day Landings 70th anniversary. While Bernard is on his 48-hour trip to Normandy, his wife Rene (Glenda Jackson) recalls their younger days and falling in love during WWII as they celebrate their enduring love but keeps an eye on the lessons to be learned from the Greatest Generation (people born between 1901 to 1927). Will Fletcher, Laura Marcus co-star as the younger couple. This film is Michael Caine and Glenda Jackson’s final movie appearance.
