Men’s Retreat: How Men Can Thrive in God’s Diversity!, Nov. 10–12

Men of all ages are invited to come on the annual LAUMC Men’s Retreat, November 10–12, for relaxation and reflection with a group of men led by the Rev. Dale Weatherspoon. We will use Micah 6:8 as our foundational text and guide as we explore our topic of thriving in God’s diversity. This retreat will challenge you to think, question, and reflect, all in the safe space created by the retreat setting. Let’s learn and grow together and have fun while doing it!

Rev. Weatherspoon’s goal for this retreat is that participants should walk away with a deeper awareness of their own culture and of others’; an understanding of power and privilege, who has it and who doesn’t (we all have some), how it works, how we use it, and how we can misuse it; and some ideas and tools for building relationships with the “other,” however we define other, and for being advocates for God’s justice.

The retreat will take place at Mount Hermon Christian Conference Center in Felton, Calif. The registration fee of $275 covers meals from Friday dinner through Sunday lunch, lodging with a roommate in a deluxe room or cabin with a bathroom (no dorm rooms), retreat program, Saturday movie and discussion, music and worship, and an optional walk.

Please sign up online or fill out a registration form and deliver it and your check to the church office. The deadline is October 24 extended to November 6. Scholarships are available. Contact Retreat Coordinator Jeff Jenks (408-470-9754) with any questions.
