Special Guest: Ali Abu Awwad founder of Taghyeer
Wednesday, May 10 at 7:30pm

LAUMC is thrilled to be hosting the founder of Taghyeer, Ali Abu Awwad as he shares his first-hand insights about the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Many people from the LAUMC community met Ali during their recent tour of Israel and Palestine.
Ali will discuss his personal story of learning nonviolence as a First Intifada prisoner. After losing his brother in the Second Intifada, his family hosted grieving Israeli families—and Ali began his 20- year journey of nonviolent leadership in Palestine, Israel, and around the world. It led to the 2016 founding of the Taghyeer (Change) Palestinian National Nonviolence Movement. Ali will share his vision of a nonviolent solution to the conflict in Israel, about Taghyeer grassroots activism throughout the West Bank; the urgent political situation for both Palestinians and Israelis; and the fundamentals of personal and social transformation in the conflict. His views on the importance of international allies in his work as well as actions we all can take to support peace and justice in this region will be discussed. You will not want to miss this opportunity to hear directly from Ali.
